Vikki Drummond, is a artist/painter, who from an early age has been transported elsewhere by the power of a well written story. So much so that often for a long time afterwards (years even) she still process through colours her ideas and impressions.
Though figurative images may appear, the artist is not concerned with realistic representation. In fact she is the happiest when a painting achieves a kind of jagged, twitchy finish. As a child’s creation might, her intention is to incite feelings of happy abandon with the viewer.
After a career in Business Administration, few years ago Vikki decided to pursue a career in the the Arts.
As Vikki says… “I am predominantly self-taught. I’m interested in how we humans see ourselves and why we might portray an image that belies our true nature. I play with combining flattened and dimensional figures in the same composition to challenge the viewers sense of reality. The hope is that the viewer recognizes something in the distorted images that reflects our common struggles, fragilities and humanity”.
Vikki has had a solo exhibition at: Alternator Gallery in Kelowna, BC – Amstrong Spallumcheen Art Gallery in Amstrong BC – Summerland Art Gallery, Summerland BC.
Also had participated in group exhibitions: Lake Country Art Gallery – Kelowna Art Gallery in Kelowna, BC – ARTE funktional, Kelowna BC – Tumbleweed Gallery, Penticton BC – Alternator, Kelowna BC – SOPA Fine Arts, Kelowna BC – ARTE funktional, Vernon BC – BC Arts Council, Kelowna BC
