Title: Yellow Poder Room
Details: Handmade tiles and glazes - 2012

This powder room created in 2012 was part of the “Plum Tree House” project in Vernon BC. Surrounded by nature, where most of the inspiration came from, we used the motif of frogs, butterflies, small lizards and dragonflies, which live in the surrounding area.
Design & production done by Carolina Sánchez de Bustamante
Tile installation: Robbie Sterry and Mark Yanko

Working from raw clay allows me to create many shapes and forms in architectural ceramics such as this art deco style mirror. The yellow borders are hand extruded and bend to the desire shape.

The white tiles in the perimeter border are custom 1.5″x1.5″ and the colour accent tiles are 3″x3″, installed off set to give more movement to the tile border.
