Doug Alcock, born in Kelowna, BC in 1949. Metal sculpture has been central to this artist for the last three decades. Working with a rich supply of found objects, relics from a bygone era, pre-charged with energy from their mysterious past.
Alcock says… “finding hand forged utilitarian elements, works of art in their own right, inspired me to explore more about the ancient craft of blacksmithing”. He is able to turn the uncompromising firmness of steel into a shape that feels as malleable as leather.
Alcock has had his work exhibited at the Vernon Art Gallery, Vernon, BC – Kamloops Cowboy Festival, Kamloops, BC – Calgary Stampede, Calgary, AB – Sculpture Symposium Exhibition, Vernon, BC – 3rd International Sculpture Exhibition, Washington, USA – Sculpture Garden, Van Dusen Gardens, Vancouver, BC –
